About The Position

Systems Planning Corporation (SPC), a subsidiary company of GAI Consultants, Inc., is seeking a Senior Environmental Manager 2 to provide advanced experience and team leadership in environmental studies and permitting and/or siting studies. The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be to provide project and task leadership for siting, permitting, and documentation efforts relating to electric transmission projects.

Requirements

  • Strong technical writing ability.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to travel, including overnight trips.
  • Travel is estimated to occur monthly but may vary.
  • Travel to clients, projects, and meetings in the mid-Atlantic and Midwest (up to 20%).
  • Minimum Years of Experience 18+ Years of Experience
  • Education Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences or similar field of study

Responsibilities

  • Lead electric transmission line siting investigation tasks and prepare siting documentation for regulatory review.
  • Lead environmental resource investigation tasks and prepare permit applications and associated environmental reports.
  • Manage technical investigations including but not limited to wetland and stream delineations, endangered species surveys, environmental inspections, and compliance monitoring.
  • Lead implementation and compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
  • Oversight and coordination of project tasks.
  • Available to junior staff for guidance.
  • Provides opportunities to junior staff for becoming familiar with task management and financials.
  • Interpreting the strategy of top-level management and translating it into everyday policies.
  • Developing and implementing day-to-day routines for a team, department, group, or division.
  • Starts to serve as a Project Manager on midsize to large projects.
  • Routinely interacts with clients, customers, government officials, contractors, and others; leads project meetings and presentations; possess marketing and sales skills; represents Company in a positive light; interacts with Task Managers and Business Sector Leaders on a regular basis; attends meetings with higher-level officials of the Company on project status including financials.
