About The Position

Busch Vacuum Solutions is hiring a Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist for an immediate direct-hire position onsite at its Virginia Beach, Virginia headquarters. The role owns and independently directs EHS programs across assigned Busch Group locations. It requires discretion and professional judgment to evaluate significant regulatory and operational risks, set EHS priorities, select corrective-action approaches, serve as a site Safety Champion, and advise site leadership on safety, environmental performance, and compliance solutions. The position oversees EHS programs and management systems, incident investigations, audits, inspections, training, emergency preparedness, workplace hazard controls, and regulatory compliance. It also owns implementation of the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and directs Virginia DEQ compliance strategies. The targeted compensation range is $97,000–$106,000 per year, depending on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety.
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or technical school in Safety, Health, or a closely related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites or similar software, with emphasis on spreadsheets, data analysis, and metrics.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment in compliance with Busch Insurance Standards.
Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen and 7-year criminal history check; most felonies are disqualifiers, while misdemeanors are considered case by case.
Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE.

Nice To Haves

At least 5 years of independent site or multi-site program responsibility.
Air permitting experience.
ISO 14001 exposure or implementation experience.
Experience independently evaluating OSHA/EPA compliance, leading EHS management systems, advising leadership, and interacting with regulatory agencies.
Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), or equivalent certification.
OSHA 30-hour training.
First Aid/CPR/AED/BBP training.

Responsibilities

Direct EHS programs across assigned Busch Group sites and use independent judgment to set priorities and controls.
Lead biweekly EHS reviews to evaluate site performance, significant risks, and leadership action plans.
Lead incident and near-miss investigations, assess causes, select corrective actions, and verify their effectiveness.
Direct risk-based site inspections, evaluate findings, prioritize corrective actions, and verify closure.
Own chemical inventory, hazardous-material, and waste program compliance and determine necessary controls.
Evaluate significant workplace hazards, select safeguards within delegated authority, and escalate material risks.
Coach Safety Champions and drive employee engagement in “See It, Say It, Fix It” hazard reporting.
Lead internal EHS audits, evaluate findings and corrective actions, and advise management during external audits.
Interpret OSHA, EPA, Virginia, and local EHS rules; assess compliance options and advise on major decisions.
Set site EHS training priorities, evaluate requirements and effectiveness, and ensure completion records.
Analyze incident trends, audit findings, and metrics and recommend substantive site EHS program improvements.
Lead multi-site EHS emergency preparedness, business continuity planning, drills, and response improvements.
Direct respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and PPE programs; assess risks and select safeguards.
Lead JSEA reviews of work hazards, PPE, and environmental waste streams and authorize improvements to controls.
Exercise delegated EHS approval authority for equipment, process, chemical, and facility changes affecting safety and environmental compliance.
Visit assigned sites at least quarterly to independently evaluate compliance, risks, and corrective priorities.
Own ISO 14001:2015 EMS implementation, compliance obligations, objectives, and operational controls.
Conduct internal EMS and EHS audits, determine corrective actions, and verify their effectiveness.
Direct Virginia DEQ compliance strategies, including air permits, SPCC, stormwater, and waste; assess business impacts and advise leadership on significant regulatory risks.
