About The Position

IonQ, Inc. is seeking a Senior Quantum Sales Executive to join their US Go-To-Market team. This role is responsible for bringing IonQ's quantum offerings, including hardware, software, applications, and access, to a select group of clients within specific industry verticals. This is an individual contributor position with the potential for future team leadership. The company is a leading quantum platform and merchant supplier, delivering integrated quantum solutions across computing, networking, sensing, and security. IonQ's quantum computers have achieved significant performance results and are used by major companies for applications in drug discovery, materials science, financial modeling, and more. IonQ is headquartered in College Park, Maryland, with global operations and its services available through major cloud providers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years+ of experience selling to the Enterprise with quota-carrying responsibilities and a proven track record of closing multi-million dollar infrastructure or platform deals.
  • Proven ability to sell "off-budget" or "future-state" solutions that do not yet have a standard line item in IT or R&D budgets.
  • Ability to navigate the unique procurement requirements.
  • Experience selling high-performance computing (HPC), AI infrastructure, or complex business-driving software solutions.
  • Specific industry experience in Oil & Gas.
  • Existing Senior-level relationships (CTO, CIO, Head of Quant) within the Oil & Gas space.
  • Deep understanding of the O&G business drivers and underlying processes that can be enhanced using Quantum technologies.
  • Knowledge of Quantum Technologies (Compute and Networks) specifically as they relate to Quantum Algorithms/ Applications in O&G.
  • Experience in category creation selling—i.e., creating compelling approaches to sell frontier technology solutions that are not yet a standard line item in IT or R&D budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own executive-level relationships with target accounts (e.g., VPs of R&D, Chief Information Officers, and Innovation Leads) in partnership with your Field Engineer counterpart.
  • Develop a robust pipeline across IonQ’s full stack, including Quantum Computing, Quantum Networking, Quantum Security and Quantum Sensing.
  • Prioritize opportunities based on use cases for end user and long-term strategic alignment with IonQ’s roadmap.
  • Own every phase of the sales lifecycle from initial relationship building and technical qualification to RFP response, high-stakes negotiation, and closing.
  • Ensure support of the broader organization to successfully pursue opportunities throughout the sales lifecycle.
  • Partner with Customer Success post-sale to ensure high satisfaction, driving renewals and identifying opportunities for incremental revenue.
