Senior Engineering Manager - Salesforce Management Plane

SalesforceSan Francisco, CA
Hybrid

About The Position

Salesforce is seeking a dynamic engineering leader to own Salesforce Management Plane (SFMP). SFMP is a framework built on safe-change principles that allows internal service owners to onboard and execute pre-defined Day 2 production operations through REST APIs. It provides the necessary guardrails, approvals, and auditability for safe production change, thereby eliminating the need for standing production access. SFMP is crucial for Salesforce's strategy towards least-privilege, zero-touch production and a significant reduction in emergency production access across the fleet. The role requires a combination of deep expertise in production operations, security, and compliance with people-first leadership to deliver mission-critical tooling that service owners across Salesforce rely on for safe and compliant operation at scale.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering management experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Proven track record leading platform, infrastructure, or developer-tools teams with end-to-end ownership.
  • Strong technical grounding in production operations, REST API platforms, and security and access control, including role-based access control (RBAC) and least-privilege principles.
  • Effective communicator across technical, product, and executive audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with AI-native development tools, including large language models (LLMs) and agent orchestration.
  • Lead with both technical authority and human-centric coaching.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, compliance frameworks, or secure production tooling.
  • Experience with least-privilege or zero-touch production initiatives at enterprise scale.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce's internal infrastructure and change-management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Champion AI-driven development practices and agentic workflows, helping every engineer multiply velocity through hybrid human-AI development.
  • Partner with Product to drive the SFMP roadmap, including auto-discovery of service instances, operation-level access control, a central invocation engine, safe-change compliance, and multi-target execution.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of eight engineers, cultivating a culture of security-first ownership and operational excellence.
  • Champion observability, incident response, and compliance rigor, tracking key metrics for adoption, reduction in production-access requests, and system reliability.
