Crusoe•Denver, CO
•$220,000 - $265,000

About The Position

Crusoe Cloud is seeking a Senior Manager Engineering, Network Operations to own production reliability for global network infrastructure spanning edge, backbone, data center fabric, and GPU cluster interconnects. As Crusoe's high-performance compute and GPU-based AI infrastructure grows, this role will build and lead the team responsible for incident response, root cause analysis, and operational excellence across a 24x7, multi-region network. The role is accountable for operational output, including uptime, mean time to resolution, and the rigor of postmortems. It will build and scale the operations organization, establish standards for handling and preventing incidents, and represent Network Operations in planning with Network Deployment, Architecture, and Site Reliability leadership.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering or network operations, including 4+ years managing engineers or engineering managers in a large-scale, 24x7 infrastructure environment.
  • Track record of building, scaling, and retaining high-performing operations teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to own production reliability across large, multi-region device fleets, including executive-level reporting and risk management.
  • Expert working knowledge of BGP, EVPN-VXLAN, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS, QoS, and TCP/IP in production data center environments.
  • Familiarity with RDMA/RoCE lossless fabrics, including PFC, ECN, and DCQCN, for GPU/HPC workloads.
  • Comfort with Arista EOS and Juniper Junos platforms in leaf-spine CLOS architectures, sufficient to challenge and partner with technical teams.
  • Working understanding of Python-based tooling, observability automation, and auto-remediation practices to guide investment decisions and evaluate proposals.
  • Ability to communicate with senior stakeholders, set context and expectations, and deliver difficult news during and after high-severity incidents.
  • Ability to balance immediate incident pressure with longer-term organizational health, reliability standards, and team sustainability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in hyperscale or ISP environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing managers or team leads.
  • Experience with NVIDIA/Mellanox networking platforms in GPU cluster environments.
  • Familiarity with Kentik or Arbor for traffic analysis and DDoS visibility.
  • Experience defining SLIs/SLOs in partnership with SRE or product teams.
  • Exposure to operating fleets of more than 10,000 devices in hyperscale or cloud environments.
  • Background building or scaling organization-wide post-incident learning programs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the operations organization's structure and growth; hire and develop Senior and Staff Network Production Operations Engineers across sites and time zones, and build the management layer as the on-call footprint and device fleet scale.
  • Own production reliability and uptime across the global edge, backbone, data center, and GPU cluster network supporting AI workloads.
  • Set the incident command structure, escalation paths, and on-call model; serve as an executive escalation point during high-severity network events and ensure timely, clear, accurate stakeholder communication.
  • Ensure rigorous root cause analyses and track remediation plans through closure; lead cross-team post-incident reviews and drive systemic fixes with Architecture and Deployment.
  • Promote automation of detection, diagnosis, and remediation, and direct investment in tooling built on the observability stack.
  • Partner with Architecture and SRE to define, track, and report network reliability metrics, hold the organization to targets, and escalate risks.
  • Own operational reporting and risk escalation to Deployment, Architecture, and Site Reliability leadership; represent Operations in cross-functional and executive planning.
  • Keep runbooks, escalation playbooks, and standard operating procedures current, followed, and continuously improved, emphasizing scripting and automation where possible.
  • Coach engineers and emerging leads and build leadership capacity for future growth.
  • Partner with Deployment leadership on build-to-production handoff quality and with Architecture on field feedback that can inform reference designs and standards.
