About The Position

Sydecar is on a mission to transform the world of private markets by making them more accessible, transparent, and liquid through revolutionizing the creation and execution of investment vehicles. The company aims to simplify and standardize the private investing experience, automating tasks such as banking, compliance, contracts, taxes, and reporting, allowing investors to focus on deals and relationships. Sydecar is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a core product engineering team, combining technical leadership with people management to build high-performing teams and deliver exceptional user experiences. This role involves driving business-critical initiatives, growing the engineering team, and collaborating cross-functionally. The position requires technical depth, strong product intuition, clarity in leadership, and a value for ownership within a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of engineering management experience in fast-moving, product-led environments
  • 8 or more years of hands-on software engineering experience, with the ability to support technical design and strategy
  • A track record of leading teams that have shipped meaningful, high-impact product work
  • Startup or high-growth experience—you've been part of a venture-backed startup or fast-scaling company and understand the unique dynamics of building in high-growth environments.
  • Product fluency. You understand how software is built end-to-end and how technical work connects to user outcomes and business goals. You are deeply involved in product strategy, flexibly overlapping responsibilities with your Product Manager partners.
  • Systems thinking. You consider how engineering decisions influence architecture, execution, team health, and customer experience.
  • Clarity creator. You help teams move forward in uncertainty by breaking down complexity and communicating clearly.
  • Builder’s mindset. You enjoy solving open-ended problems and thrive in dynamic, evolving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own business-critical initiatives by partnering with Product and Design to define and deliver work that creates real user and business value
  • Translate company strategy into clear, actionable technical plans with measurable outcomes
  • Prioritize the highest-impact work and create focus within the team even when goals are evolving
  • Lead effectively in ambiguity by structuring complex problem spaces and creating alignment around what matters most
  • Guide architectural thinking and support strong technical decisions without becoming a bottleneck
  • Help the team balance delivery speed with technical sustainability
  • Set a high bar for quality by encouraging craftsmanship, operational rigor, and scalable thinking
  • Build a high-trust, high-performing engineering team focused on ownership, urgency, and product impact
  • Invest in the development of engineers and future leaders by creating growth opportunities that align with team goals
  • Act as a force for clarity and alignment across engineering, product, and cross-functional partners
