About The Position

Carestream Dental is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the engineering teams building Sensei Cloud, its cloud practice management platform for dental and oral surgery practices. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this leader is responsible for platform quality and reliability, predictable delivery, and the health and growth of the engineers building the product. The role will strengthen automated testing, enable faster and safer releases, deepen integration with the partner ecosystem, and guide adoption of AI-assisted engineering. The manager will lead and develop teams, establish quality and operational standards, partner with Product and platform architects, participate in technical reviews and incident response, and manage a distributed organization across the United States, the United Kingdom, Latin America, and Europe. The position is remote in the United States, with periodic visits to the Atlanta, Georgia office and occasional travel between US and UK development teams.

Requirements

  • Experience leading engineering for a multi-tenant cloud SaaS product in production.
  • Experience raising product quality and reliability with measurable results and the ability to explain which measures changed and how.
  • Experience managing managers or team leads across time zones, including vendor or partner engineers embedded in teams.
  • Ability to contribute credibly to design reviews with senior engineers and recognize when estimates or designs are incorrect.
  • Ability to set up, build, and run a modern .NET and Azure codebase.
  • Must have shipped production-system changes within the last year using AI-assisted development tools.
  • Experience introducing AI-assisted engineering to a team with review, testing, and security guardrails, and the ability to describe the results.
  • Experience running production incidents and owning subsequent process changes.
  • Ability to explain trade-offs to product and executive stakeholders and push back when commitments are unrealistic.
  • Ability to determine what to decide, delegate, or escalate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Azure and .NET experience.
  • Dental or broader healthcare software experience, including scheduling, charting, claims, and imaging.
  • Experience with regulated data, including HIPAA and UK GDPR, in design and operations.
  • Experience with a product estate spanning cloud and desktop software, including migration between them.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and grow the Sensei Cloud engineering teams through line management, one-to-ones, goal setting, performance conversations, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Develop a Team Lead in each team and run the teams through those leads.
  • Set and uphold platform quality and reliability standards, including release criteria measured from production telemetry.
  • Build automated regression coverage across clinical, financial, imaging, and reporting paths; include performance testing on data-access changes and validation at integration boundaries.
  • Own predictable delivery, provide commitments Product and executive stakeholders can plan around, raise risks early with options, and report outcomes clearly.
  • Partner with Product on the Sensei Cloud roadmap, including usability, in-product feedback, workflow enhancements, and new integrations.
  • Run operating practices using Azure DevOps as the single source of truth, ensure severe issues are owned around the clock between US and UK teams, and ensure backlogs are ready before sprints begin.
  • Stay technically engaged by participating in design reviews, leading incident response, and partnering with architects on platform direction.
  • Maintain a working product build and contribute changes through the normal review process using AI-assisted tools such as Claude Code.
  • Establish team working agreements for AI-assisted engineering, including delegation to agents, human review, testing of generated code, security handling, and measurement of adoption and quality effects.
  • Manage a distributed organization across the United States, the United Kingdom, and partner teams in Latin America and Europe, holding employees and partners to consistent expectations and support.
