About The Position

At Upstart, the mission is to radically reduce the cost and complexity of borrowing for all Americans by leveraging creativity, experimentation, and advanced AI to reshape access to credit. As a leading AI lending marketplace, Upstart partners with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit through technology that uses over one million predictions per borrower and more than 1,800 signals. The company is digital-first, offering flexibility for most employees to work remotely across the US and Canada, with intentional in-person connections through team onsites and planning sessions. Offices are located in Columbus, Austin, the Bay Area, and New York City (opening Summer 2026). The Delivery team at Upstart is responsible for enabling engineers to build, test, and ship software safely through a reliable, secure, and auditable delivery system. This team owns the build and release pipeline, service creation experience, and the engineering portal, leading cross-functional efforts to eliminate friction in the software delivery lifecycle. Their goal is to make shipping software fast and predictable, aiming for engineers to go from idea to production in a single day through self-service workflows. This involves evolving CI/CD infrastructure, standardizing service creation, embedding observability and reliability by default, and providing a unified platform for service lifecycle management. The team collaborates closely with platform, SRE, and product engineering teams. As a Senior Engineering Manager of the Delivery team, the role involves leading a team to improve the reliability, speed, and usability of Upstart’s software delivery platform, focusing on execution, driving high-impact improvements to developer workflows, reducing friction in the path to production, and ensuring systems are scalable, observable, and easy to operate. The manager will partner with other teams to advance a self-service delivery model and balance near-term delivery with incremental platform improvements.
