About The Position

This role will be responsible for building and scaling the Nitro product and organization. The manager will lead a team of engineers working across platforms to build revenue-driving products and services at Discord. Requirements

5+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functionally.
Motivated to help team members succeed and experience developing engineers of multiple levels.
Approach problems from first principles.
Comfortable with ambiguity and excited about working collaboratively to figure out solutions to complex problems, and then executing on them.
Strong product sense and pride in understanding customers.
Use experiments to make data-informed decisions.
Code does not scare you; still an engineer even if not doing it all the time.
Keep up with industry trends and can assess new technologies that can help solve problems.

Responsibilities

Build highly-engaged teams by hiring, coaching, and instilling a sense of ownership and impact in engineers.
Work cross-functionally with Finance, Customer Experience, Product, Design, and Marketing teams to define the team’s vision and roadmap by thoroughly understanding customer and business needs.
Use technical expertise to raise the bar and ensure the team delivers extraordinary results at a high technical level.
Develop insights into issues slowing down the team and use them to develop processes that enable the team to deliver its goals.
Mentor and guide the careers of engineers through coaching and finding opportunities that support their technical skillset and goals.
Make sound decisions around resourcing and make the rationale clear to partners and team members.
Partner with Revenue leadership on strategic planning and continuously improve the Engineering organization while upholding the workplace philosophy.
