Senior Engineering Manager, Data Platform

Duolingo•Pittsburgh, NY
•$204,000 - $306,000

About The Position

Duolingo is hiring a manager and team lead for its Experiments Team, responsible for the in-house Experiment Platform that supports A/B testing throughout the product development lifecycle. The platform defines experiments, executes them in the app, and measures their outcomes. Although the role is platform-focused, the manager will stay closely connected to product teams across Duolingo and help shape how A/B testing is used to improve the learner experience. The role involves expanding the platform to support more sophisticated A/B tests and statistical methods, enabling teams to evaluate key metrics and gate access to functionality, improving experiment automation and backend control of the learner experience, and scaling the platform for substantially higher experiment velocity in a statistically sound and cost-efficient way. The manager will also partner with product teams on measurement approaches for complex product scenarios and advise on experiment strategy. The position must be performed from Pittsburgh, PA or New York, NY, or the candidate must relocate to one of those locations. The posted base salary range is $204,000–$306,000 USD, with equity compensation in addition to base salary. The offer depends on factors including work experience, skills, and internal peer comparisons; the range may change. Duolingo describes its mission as developing the best education in the world and making it universally available.
