Senior Engineering Finance Associate

About The Position

You will own development and production cost estimations for new products ranging in maturity from concept to in development. You will partner with leadership and teams from across the business to translate engineering problems into quantitative measures and partial solutions (with a financial lens). Your work will vary from quick-turn analytical problem solving to process and data improvements and building out financial models.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing finance, engineering finance, or value engineering role at a high growth hardware company.
  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting concepts.
  • Strong analytical aptitude. You intuitively think about problems in terms of numbers.
  • Able to quickly execute analyses in Excel.
  • Ability to quantify complex often ambiguous problems.
  • Willing to learn how to use corporate systems (e.g. Salesforce, Coupa, Anaplan) and analytic / dashboarding tools (e.g. Palantir Foundry).
  • Comfortable communicating broadly and having a lot of eyes on your work.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of engineering design within one or more of the following: aerospace, software, maritime, or electronics.
  • Understanding of configuration management principles and how to structure Bill of Materials.
  • Familiarity with defense standards such as MIL-STD-881 and DOD MRA Frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Own projects end-to-end, from Definition, Solution, to Implementation.
  • Execute scrappy analyses on short timelines to get answers quickly, while also owning more scalable solutions that will make Anduril successful in the long term.
  • Project manage across many stakeholders.
  • Work across functions and learn Anduril’s business top-to-bottom.
  • Own detailed should cost models end-to-end, from on-the-ground gathering of data, through creating materials, to presenting them to stakeholders.
  • Build parametric cost models for a variety of products breaking down products into first principles including capability and physics.
  • Tying entire product life cycle costs together to forecast product business case viability, opportunities, and risks.
  • Create novel frameworks for establishing a strong “value engineering” muscle.
  • Establish transparency into material cost for existing and future Anduril products.
  • Build financial models that help set material cost targets for different products.
  • Work with the Engineering and Supply Chain teams to develop and implement cost reduction roadmaps.
  • Help executives think through tradeoffs in product features vs. costs vs. profitability.
  • “Red-Team” engineering plans from a financial / business perspective.
