About The Position

The Senior Engineering & Equipment Technician plays a critical role in maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and continuously improving automated and semi-automated manufacturing equipment used to produce consumable microfluidic cartridges and capillary-based Western Blot cartridges in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. This position serves as a senior technical resource supporting production uptime, equipment reliability, process improvements, and engineering initiatives.

Requirements

  • Expert troubleshooting and repair capability on automated manufacturing and electro-mechanical equipment
  • Proficiency using diagnostic instrumentation: Oscilloscopes, multimeters, current probes, etc.
  • Experience troubleshooting motors, actuators, sensors, pneumatics, vacuum systems, fluid handling equipment, and automated systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, I/O drawings, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic diagrams
  • Strong root-cause analysis, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Must be capable of working effectively in a team environment
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Electro-Mechanical disciplines or equivalent work experience
  • 5-8+ years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment
  • Demonstrated history of resolving complex equipment failures and mentoring less experienced technicians

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to PLC’s, HMI’s, National Instruments, Beckhoff, & software environments that control these devices
  • Experience leading equipment reliability improvement initiatives
  • Understanding manufacturing processes: Machining, molding, assembly, and material properties
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 requirements

Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous operation of production equipment through advanced diagnostics, repair, calibration, adjustment, and component replacement
  • Lead troubleshooting of complex mechanical, electronic, pneumatic, fluidic, and motion-control systems
  • Utilize oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power analyzers, current probes, and other diagnostic tools to identify root causes of equipment failures
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for recurring or high-impact equipment failures
  • Perform and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve equipment and process issues and implement sustainable corrective actions
  • Participate in validation and qualification activities for equipment modifications and process improvements
  • Train, mentor, and develop operators and technicians in setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and support ISO 13485 requirements
  • Be prepared to gather and show records of maintenance & calibration events during audit cycles
  • Assist with facility and infrastructure equipment as required
