About The Position

The Senior Engineer, R&D Software Engineer plays a critical role in enabling the continuous evolution of the MedTech R&D product lifecycle and digital thread. This role is responsible for developing and advancing sector-wide processes and digital platforms—including PLM, ALM, CAD, Digital Adoption, and Design Engagement—that serve as the foundation for scalable, data-driven, and increasingly autonomous R&D capabilities. This individual partners cross-functionally to deliver digital solutions that enhance speed, quality, and user experience while ensuring operational stability and supporting future innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field); advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in software or systems engineering
  • Solid understanding of product development, New Product Introduction (NPI), and lifecycle R&D processes
  • Hands-on experience with PLM, ALM, CAD, and/or digital thread concepts
  • Experience working with enterprise digital platforms and/or R&D systems
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, IT)
  • Strong systems thinking, problem-solving skills, and learning agility
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering complex technical solutions and driving measurable outcomes
  • Ability to contribute under general direction while impacting operational goals
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 10%

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software solutions aligned to the R&D digital thread
  • Enabling and enhancing digital platforms such as PLM, ALM, CAD, and related enterprise tools
  • Leading the design of scalable, future-ready digital solutions across the product lifecycle
  • Partnering across R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT to deliver integrated digital capabilities
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities for automation and data-driven solutions
  • Supporting onboarding, migrations, and adoption of enterprise R&D platforms
  • Writing clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical documentation
  • Delivering technical reports, memoranda, and knowledge-sharing materials
  • Coaching and mentoring junior engineers on processes, tools, and best practices
  • Participating in pilots and exploration of emerging technologies to support innovation
  • Influencing standards, architectures, and engineering practices across business units
  • Operating effectively in ambiguous environments and leading exploratory initiatives
