About The Position

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead small to medium-sized capital projects from concept development and planning through execution and commissioning. These projects typically involve earthworks, civil infrastructure, industrial buildings, and other site development initiatives. The role requires close collaboration with operations, technical services, maintenance, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and results-oriented engineering professional with strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams. This position is located in the Elk Valley of British Columbia and offers a compressed work week with alternating Fridays off, promoting work-life balance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
  • Minimum of five years of experience managing engineering or capital projects through design, construction, and commissioning phases
  • Working knowledge of project management principles, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, contractor management, and risk management
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing earthworks, civil construction, industrial buildings, or mining-related infrastructure projects is preferred
  • Experience in mining, heavy industrial, or resource-sector environments is considered a strong asset

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and execution plans for a portfolio of capital projects
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout activities
  • Lead the execution of civil, infrastructure, plant, environmental, and tailings-related projects in collaboration with contractors and internal stakeholders
  • Support operational readiness, commissioning, start-up, and handover to operations teams
  • Monitor project progress, costs, risks, and contractor performance to ensure successful project delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain alignment and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle
  • Analyze technical and project information to support effective decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives
