This is a Senior Engineer role focused on transmission and distribution line design for a large investor-owned electric utility serving approximately 15 million people across a 50,000 square-mile service territory in Central, Coastal, and Southern California. The position is primarily an engineering design and execution role — not a project management role — with the engineer responsible for performing design work and reviewing engineering designs produced by other engineers. PLS-CADD expertise is critical: candidates must be able to build PLS-CADD models from scratch and independently troubleshoot them, and must be fully versed in both PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole given the seniority of the position. The approximate work breakdown is 75% overhead line design and 25% pole and foundation analysis. Candidates may support projects involving distribution voltages (4 kV to 33 kV) and transmission voltages (66 kV, 115 kV, and potentially 220 kV). A strong preference exists for candidates with direct electric utility transmission/distribution engineering experience, as utility engineering is highly specialized and direct industry experience is necessary to possess the required PLS-CADD background. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence on Wednesdays and Thursdays; remote-only candidates are not being considered.
