Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years preferred) in mechanical design and manufacturing environments, particularly in aerospace applications and MGSE.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading technical projects and initiatives, with a focus on innovation and technical excellence.
  • Proficiency in computer aided design (CAD), preferably with Solidworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of spacecraft/satellites manufacturing processes and quality management systems, with familiarity with SAP and other supervision systems considered a plus.
  • Exceptional engineering skills, capable of understanding and solving complex mechanical design and manufacturing challenges. Proficient in structural analysis via hand calculations and FEM methods.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, capable of multitasking and prioritizing effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in communication, able to articulate complex technical issues clearly and effectively across different organizational levels and cultures.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain U.S. Government SECRET level security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and implementation of mechanical design strategies for the Final Assembly Line (FAL), ensuring integration of mechanical flight hardware aligns with design specifications and production capacity requirements.
  • Serve as the technical owner of all Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE).
  • Monitor station and MGSE performance with respect to production capacity and quality.
  • Lead investigations and RCCA's aimed at resolving mechanical non-conformances (NCs) and anomalies in the assembly line and related mechanical systems.
  • Propose and implement data driven MGSE solutions and process improvements directed at enhancing production performance and maximum Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Define and manage MGSE maintenance requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance on the design and optimization of FAL workstations, GSE, and processes.
  • Support and act as a leader in the collaborative development of manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for 3D measurements, ensuring precision in manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Conduct various types of mechanical analysis to evaluate and improve system performances under varying operational conditions.
  • Advocate and lead efforts aimed to improve and mature engineering processes fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Act as the primary liaison between mechanical design engineering and production ensuring design to manufacturing principles and lessons learned are being considered and prioritized in product development.
  • Mentor peers and support team growth initiatives.
  • Lead mechanical design initiatives, establishing clear objectives and driving innovation in MGSE and aerospace structural design.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, satellite configurations, and specific requirements for MGSE and large aerospace structures.
  • Maintain a high level of presence in the FAL ensuring timely support and full awareness at all times.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Configuration Management, and Design Engineering teams to implement design and process changes effectively.
  • Support mechanical operations, focusing on advanced problem-solving and anomaly resolution in the FAL and related areas.
