About The Position

Entegris is seeking a Senior Engineer to join its Materials Quality Engineering (Supplier Quality) team. The role supports the regional supplier base, U.S. manufacturing operations, and global teammates, with a focus on assessing and managing supplier quality performance, risk, and capability for polyurethane foams, polymeric materials, and related formulated materials used in CMP polishing pads. The position supports the Materials Solutions Division and U.S. manufacturing plants. The engineer will lead supplier development and continuous improvement and maintain quality systems for critical polyurethane foam suppliers. Working autonomously and using sound engineering judgment, the role collaborates with Commodity Management, Operations, R&D, Customer Quality, Procurement, and Business Units to ensure continuity of supply and resolve internal and customer issues involving foam quality, variability, and contamination control. The position includes supplier quality oversight, foam process and formulation assessments, supplier audits and corrective actions, qualifications and change management, risk assessments, specifications and test-method development, data analysis, and cross-functional supplier risk planning. Domestic or international travel of up to 10% is required, as is travel to a local manufacturing plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science or Engineering, Materials Science or Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5–7 years of experience in polyurethane foam manufacturing, polymer manufacturing, CMP pad manufacturing, semiconductor materials, or another high-tech manufacturing industry.
  • Working knowledge of polyurethane foam quality systems and controls, including formulation and cure control, physical-property testing, contamination control, analytical-method capability, SPC systems, PFMEA, and control-plan development.
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software such as Minitab, JMP, SAS, or Camline.
  • Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, lead projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically or internationally and travel to a local manufacturing plant.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with supplier quality engineering for polyurethane foams, polymeric materials, formulated materials, elastomers, adhesives, or CMP pad materials.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Advanced degree.

Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier quality activities for polyurethane foams used in CMP polishing pads, including raw materials, additives, and critical formulation components.
  • Drive supplier performance improvement through corrective actions, audits, process capability reviews, and assessments of foam processes and formulations.
  • Assess supplier processes including mixing, reaction, foaming, molding or casting, curing, finishing, packaging, and contamination controls.
  • Support polyurethane foam qualifications, management of change (MOC), and risk assessments for formulation, raw-material, and supplier-process changes.
  • Analyze foam quality issues, including density, hardness, thickness, pore or cell structure, voids, inclusions, dimensional stability, contamination, cure, and performance; lead root-cause investigations using methods such as 8D, 5-Why, and fishbone analysis.
  • Develop and maintain foam specifications, critical-to-quality requirements, certificate of analysis expectations, physical and analytical test methods, and quality documentation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on process improvements, capability studies, control plans, sampling strategies, and advanced quality planning.
  • Apply continuous-improvement and structured problem-solving methods, SPC, and FMEA to reduce variation, improve yield and reliability, and strengthen foam and CMP pad performance.
  • Analyze, synthesize, and summarize complex data to support decisions and actions.
  • Partner with Business Units, Procurement, R&D, and Operations to ensure continuity of supply for critical foam raw materials and products.
  • Monitor supplier metrics and provide visibility and escalation to cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Participate in business continuity planning and risk mitigation for critical suppliers and high-impact materials.
