The Senior Engineer II, Mechanical, Projects serves as the owner’s engineer and mechanical project resource for fixed equipment and piping scope within the Refining Business Unit Projects organization for Phillips 66. This role is responsible for providing technical support, helping maintain expectations for quality and completeness, and reviewing key mechanical deliverables developed by EPC contractors, vendors, fabricators, and third-party engineering firms. This position is a project-focused mechanical engineering role that applies strong technical knowledge and practical industry experience to support development and execution of capital projects. The role helps verify that proposed mechanical designs, specifications, materials selections, fabrication approaches, inspection plans, and execution strategies are technically sound, safe, reliable, constructable, economical, and aligned with Phillips 66 standards, business objectives, and Management of Change requirements. The successful candidate must have solid working knowledge of fixed equipment and piping engineering and design activities across FEL, detailed design, procurement, fabrication, construction, and closeout, and be able to work effectively with project personnel, project management teams, less experienced engineers, and third-party engineering contractor teams to improve quality and consistency of deliverables. At this level, the engineer is expected to operate with growing independence, take ownership of assigned scopes, lead complex project tasks, and help guide junior engineers.
