About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Process Engineer to lead the development, optimization, and support of advanced wedge bonding processes and products. This role is responsible for driving process innovation, root cause investigations, customer issue resolution, and new technology development while working closely with cross-functional teams across Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and global sites. The successful candidate will lead complex technical projects from concept through commercialization, utilize data-driven methodologies to improve product performance and reliability, mentor junior engineers, and serve as a key technical resource for customers and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on engineering expertise, analytical problem-solving skills, project leadership experience, and a passion for continuous improvement in a fast-paced semiconductor equipment environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of process, product, or manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in semiconductor equipment, electronics assembly, advanced packaging, wire/wedge bonding, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex technical projects, root cause investigations, DOE activities, and data-driven process optimization from concept through implementation.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with hands-on experience using tools such as Minitab, JMP, statistical analysis, FMEA, SPC, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and interface directly with customers and senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Developing new automation processes for battery cell manufacturing and interconnects from concept to deployment;
  • Developing processing knowledge based on customer requirements to demonstrate the feasibility of WB applications, often requiring rapid prototyping and/or product demonstration for clients;
  • Performing optics and laser experiments to properly calibrate equipment;
  • Assessing materials combinations and joining methods for best interconnect reliability within the WB process;
  • Proposing and testing conceptual solutions for new problems pertaining to WB operations and battery cell and battery interconnect topics;
  • Conducting research on battery market trends and market requirements;
  • Providing pre- and post-sales technical support;
  • Developing test plans and executing experiments to analyze and characterize wire bonding interconnect mechanisms;
  • Contributing to WB product development projects, performing work in cooperation with marketing and other engineering functions (software, mechanical, systems);
  • Providing technical expertise through product demonstrations and presentations in the pre-sale process, as well as installations and maintenance for existing customers;
  • Assisting the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products and preparing detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer applications/solutions;
  • Conducting new product capability assessment and validation;
  • Enhancing equipment capability through process-driven knowledge development;
  • Developing and creating reference documents for process-of-record standards; and
  • Preparing technical reports as required and maintaining reports, files and records.
