About The Position

Microchip is seeking a Reliability Engineer for our Colorado Springs, CO office. This role is responsible for conducting qualification stress test evaluations that support company strategies for industrial, automotive, and military product release. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product performance meets internal and industry requirements, including JEDEC, ISO, Military/Aerospace, and Automotive (AEC) standards, to meet customer expectations across product lifecycles. This engineer will work both independently and collaboratively, serving as a technical leader and individual contributor as needed. This role requires close collaboration within an interactive laboratory engineering team, as well as direct communication with internal stakeholders, vendors and suppliers, auditors, and management. The ideal candidate is a proactive and creative problem solver with strong technical expertise and a commitment to excellence, with exceptional communication skills and a passion for delivering high-quality customer support in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters of Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Computer Science (BSCS) or related field, with 5 - 7.5 years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of electronics and lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, power supplies, waveform generators, digital multimeters and thermometers).
  • Experience with hardware / software design and development.
  • Strong knowledge of, Python, C/C++ languages, etc.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in team settings, both as a leader and a contributor.
  • Willing to learn new skills and responsibilities with flexibility in working independently or within a team, with redirection as needed.
  • Solid ability with office programs and equipment, including networked systems and Microsoft 365.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SQL, databases, and website coding.
  • Familiarity with common statistical comparison and quality reviews methods.
  • Proficiency with soldering.
  • Familiarity with CAD software, 3-D printers, and machining.
  • Familiarity with Project Management application and Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing and reporting qualifications / evaluations in accordance with industry-standard requirements to support scheduled release dates.
  • Load high quantity of units in stress boards / equipment for the qualification environmental stresses with high quality performance in tight schedules.
  • Use environmental stress test machinery and electronics – including interaction with high voltage, high / low temperatures, fluids, gases, and vibration.
  • Maintain lab equipment through preventative maintenance, lab hygiene, continuous improvement actions.
  • Develop and integrate new chambers and support equipment – which could include PCB creation, program coding, schematic review, and board configuration /debug.
  • Record / write qualification stress work-in-progress results and summary reports, lab procedures and guidelines, and equipment maintenance documentation.
  • Support product groups by attending launch plan meetings, performing electronic verifications and qualification reporting, answering customer inquiries, and participating in regulatory audits.
  • Deliver after-action reviews, project stakeholder meetings, and qualification failure reviews for root cause understanding.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks to meet lab goals, project needs, and company requirements, as needed.
