About The Position

The Senior EHS Engineer serves as the site’s technical authority for environmental compliance, chemical process safety, waste management, and sustainability performance. The Senior EHS Engineer leads waste-minimization and landfill-diversion initiatives, supporting Revlon’s strategic commitment to sustainability. This role ensures full adherence to federal EPA regulations, North Carolina DEQ requirements, RCRA hazardous waste rules, wastewater and stormwater permits, DOT hazardous materials standards, and Revlon corporate environmental policies. The engineer provides critical oversight of chemical handling processes, flammable and hazardous material storage, spill prevention systems, and environmental risk mitigation strategies that protect employees, the community, and the environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related technical field is required.
  • 5 years of experience.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, including EPA, NC DEQ, RCRA hazardous waste rules, wastewater/stormwater permits, and SPCC requirements.
  • Working knowledge of incident investigation and root-cause analysis methods and ability to drive timely closure of action items.
  • Solid knowledge of chemical process safety, including chemical compatibility, hazardous material storage, and process hazard evaluation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and EHS systems, with strong Excel skills and familiarity with digital platforms (SAP, EHS MNGT platforms, Enablon, Power BI).
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports, support training, and work cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and corporate EHS.
  • Ability to manage waste programs and sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, recycling optimization.
  • Ability to walk manufacturing floors, climb stairs, and access elevated platforms.
  • Ability to wear PPE including respirators, hearing protection, gloves, and safety shoes.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degrees or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CHMM, REM, CSP, CES) are preferred.
  • ISO 14001 internal auditor training/experience is a plus.
  • ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) experience (implementation, maintenance, internal auditing, and external audit support), including corrective/preventive action (CAPA) management.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements and risk-based process safety principles, including Management of Change, process hazard analysis, operating procedures, mechanical integrity, contractor safety, incident investigation, and action item closure.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the site subject-matter expert for EPA, NC DEQ, RCRA, CAA, CWA, SPCC, Stormwater, Tier II, TRI, hazardous waste, and universal waste requirements.
  • Maintain environmental permits (air, stormwater, wastewater) and ensure 100% on-time submissions for all regulatory reports.
  • Lead all federal, state, and local environmental inspections, act as site liaison for regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct environmental sampling (wastewater, stormwater, air emissions) and perform analytical interpretation.
  • Maintain all required environmental records, manifests, logs, and permit documentation.
  • Lead and support process safety reviews, including chemical hazard analysis, compatibility reviews, ventilation assessments, and Safe Operating Limits evaluations.
  • Evaluate chemical storage, flammable/combustible liquid operations, batch mixing, and chemical transfer systems for compliance with NFPA, OSHA, and EPA standards.
  • Ensure proper identification, inventory, segregation, secondary containment, and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Lead spill prevention programs (SPCC, containment inspections, leak detection), including engineering improvements to reduce spill risk.
  • Perform PHA-style reviews (What-If, Checklist, JSA/JHA) for chemical processes and material changes.
  • Support and help administer applicable PSM-related elements for covered or higher-risk processes, including Management of Change, process safety information, operating procedure review, incident investigation support, and tracking of corrective actions to closure.
  • Support site wastewater treatment operations and ensure compliance with permit requirements.
  • Conduct testing, trending, and troubleshooting of wastewater parameters affecting compliance.
  • Maintain stormwater pollution prevention measures and conduct required inspections and sampling.
  • Oversee hazardous waste identification, accumulation, container management, satellite areas, and shipments.
  • Prepare and submit all federal/state/local reports including: Tier II, TRI, RCRA Biennial, DMRs, stormwater reports, waste reports, and internal corporate environmental submissions.
  • Develop environmental dashboards and KPI reports using Excel or Power BI.
  • Conduct environmental trend analysis to identify improvement opportunities and compliance risks.
  • Track and report progress toward waste-reduction goals and Zero-to-Landfill commitments.
  • Analyze waste generation trends to identify root causes and recommend reduction strategies.
  • Provide environmental sustainability insights for annual corporate ESG and sustainability reporting.
  • Expert understanding of EPA, NC DEQ, RCRA, SPCC, CAA, CWA, DOT hazardous materials, and wastewater regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical hazard evaluation, chemical compatibility, flammable storage requirements, and basic process safety engineering principles.
  • Ability to interpret environmental sampling data (wastewater, stormwater, air emissions).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including root-cause analysis, CAPA development, and timely closure/verification of audit and compliance findings.
  • Participate in (or lead) environmental aspects of Management of Change (MOC) for chemical, process, equipment, and material changes; partner with Engineering/Operations to ensure permitting, waste, and compliance impacts are identified and addressed.
  • Conduct EHS pre-qualification reviews for environmental and chemical-handling contractors.
  • Oversee the work of external consultants conducting sampling, PSM-style hazard studies, and environmental engineering assessments.
