Measure us on added value; we help the business to grow and win… we compete & win.” As a Senior Engineer – Engine Performance, you will provide expertise across development, validation, testing, and production support to ensure engines meet emissions, performance, and fuel efficiency targets. You will support locomotive applications while contributing to marine and stationary platforms, working on both legacy upgrades (e.g., FDLA) and new product programs (e.g., T4 Platform Ascent). Partnering closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams (engineering, global labs, software, mechanical, systems, and compliance), you will help shape technical strategy, contribute to design guides and best practices, and solve complex challenges such as obsolescence initiatives (EEC, MCA). The role also supports development of alternative fuel and hybrid solutions, driving innovation aligned with future regulatory and business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 18 years professional experience related to the design, validation, application or field service of mechanical components or systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience related to Internal Combustion Engines and how it works.
  • Provided technical leadership and guidance working complex projects/programs.
  • Ability to work constructively in a fast-paced, team-based environment and accommodate shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Desire to mentor/coach peers with less experience, including cross functional team members as well as program members and interns.
  • Willingness to travel (10%)

Responsibilities

  • Lead, shape, and execute complex projects focused on engine performance and emissions development and validation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve program objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction, including facilitating and chairing design reviews, while driving innovative solutions in partnership with a global engineering team responsible for concept, design, development, and validation activities.
  • Guide cross-functional collaboration across engineering, global labs, commercial teams, and field services to troubleshoot and resolve complex development, factory, and field issues related to engine performance.
  • Apply creative problem-solving and critical thinking to develop solutions in dynamic or novel situations, while maintaining strong attention to detail and promoting best practices.
  • Demonstrate leadership by proactively driving challenging programs, partnering with senior leaders and principal engineers to define technical vision and deliver customer and business value.
  • Mentor and coach team members, providing technical guidance and career development support to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects by working efficiently to meet aggressive program milestones while maintaining high standards for quality and reliability.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, and present technical outcomes through design reviews and executive presentations.
  • Able to be in manufacturing, lab and on locomotive environment to support product developments.
