This position is part of the Protection and Control Engineering group located in the North Carolinas Regional Headquarters in downtown Raleigh, NC. This work group is responsible for the design of protection and control relaying applications for substations (new and existing). Design projects range from routine equipment modifications and installations to the complete design of new transmission facilities. The person in this position will work in support of project teams responsible for the design of protection and control relaying applications for substations (new and existing) with a specific focus on Short-Circuit Modeling and Protection Settings. Design projects range from routine equipment modifications and installations to the complete design of new transmission facilities. This work requires an understanding of power systems, transformers, protective relaying, and electrical engineering principles for high voltage substations at voltages of 115kV, 230kV and 500kV. Additionally, this position will support system model updates and studies driven by Transmission Planning system updates and modifications, Economic Development driven projects, and Wholesale Customer driven projects. Must be able to manage multiple tasks in various stages of design or study to meet project schedule deadlines and customer requested deliverables.
