National Grid is hiring a Senior DER Distribution Engineer for our Distribution Planning and Design department in our New York Service area. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or degree in other STEM fields from and ABET accredited school is required.
  • Plans to obtain Engineer in Training (EIT) and Professional Engineer (PE) licensure are preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with Distributed Generation Interconnections and prior Utility experience is highly desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in strategic direction for immediate and long-term planning of sub-transmission and distribution systems to enhance resilience and meet capacity requirements.
  • Aid in distributed generation studies quality control and ensure compliance for distributed generation interconnections, offering technical/guideline support to customer groups.
  • Track key performance metrics and enhance DG interconnection timelines and internal business processes to ensure efficient and optimal delivery of service to distributed generation customers.
  • Work with various National Grid departments, including Electric Operations, Regional Control Centers and Distribution Design, to support integration of distributed generation, deployment of grid modernization, customer centric solutions and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify and implement changes to enhance performance, efficiency, and effectiveness of engineering processes through potential system automation and software tools.
  • Take responsibility for addressing issues promptly and effectively, while maintaining strong communication with stakeholders.
