Senior Engineer, Data & Analytics

TGH Senior Center Powered by Greenbrook MedicalNew York, NY
$170,000Hybrid

About The Position

Greenbrook Medical is seeking its first dedicated data professional to build upon and enhance its existing data platform. This role involves ensuring consistent performance, expanding the metric library, and enabling operators to monitor performance across various aspects of the business. The position requires end-to-end ownership, from the data platform to metric delivery and visualization in dashboards. The Data and Analytics Engineer will own the analytics layer (dbt models, business logic, metric definitions), the reporting and BI layer, production systems (hardening and improving them post-transition from an engineering partner), and the partnership with the engineering team. This is a build-and-own role where the engineer will work as a peer to the engineering partner, taking ownership of capabilities once they are live. Collaboration with the population health team is crucial for defining metrics and understanding business needs. The role reports to the VP of Growth and Population Health. The preferred location is New York City (Hybrid), with flexibility for exceptional remote candidates.

Requirements

  • Fluency in dbt and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with healthcare datasets and interoperability frameworks (claims, eligibility, EHR data, FHIR, HL7).
  • Solid grasp of business fundamentals to partner with business and clinical managers on metric definition.
  • Experience owning production systems and responding to incidents.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Mindset grounded in core values: Heart, Excellence, Accountability, Resilience, and Teamwork.

Nice To Haves

  • Desire to deeply own a system, hardening and improving it.
  • Ability to get to root cause of issues.
  • AI-native approach, utilizing modern AI tools.
  • Clear communication skills, comfortable explaining complex data to business users.
  • Proactive communication style.
  • High bias for action, follow-through on commitments, and closing loops independently.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Analytics Layer: Build and maintain dbt models and business logic for metrics and workflows, working within Google Cloud to iterate on business logic and transformation infrastructure.
  • Ensure consistency in metric definitions across all surfaces at Greenbrook.
  • Collaborate with performance managers to define measurement needs and success criteria.
  • Take Ownership of Production Systems: Transition systems from the engineering partner into steady state and maintain their health.
  • Be accountable for uptime and system integrity, resolving ingestion and pipeline issues or logic bugs within SLAs.
  • Develop monitoring and uptime reporting.
  • Ensure system performance by optimizing workloads and runtime.
  • Continuously improve systems rather than solely maintaining them.
  • Partner Across the Business: Act as the internal counterpart for the engineering partner, resolving issues directly and escalating when necessary.
  • Build dashboards to support organizational decision-making.
  • Engage in operating meetings where data is used to understand its application.
  • Ensure data trust, reliability, coverage, and timely delivery of committed work.

Benefits

  • $170,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
  • Generous annual performance bonus
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off
  • 401(k) with company match
