About The Position

Shield AI is seeking an experienced Software Integration Engineer for the Hivemind Quality team. The team integrates, validates, and continuously improves the Hivemind ecosystem, which spans autonomy behaviors, sensor processing, multi-agent coordination, ground-control systems, and embedded platforms. Its mission is to help autonomy developers efficiently build, test, and deploy autonomous applications that meet real-world mission objectives. In this role, you will become a power user of the Hivemind SDK, assess its capabilities and gaps from a customer perspective, develop and validate customer use cases, and provide actionable feedback to Engineering and Product teams. You will integrate new autonomy capabilities, assess feature completeness, and anticipate customer workflows and edge cases. The position connects engineering development with real-world autonomy applications to help customers build reliable, mission-ready autonomous systems.

  • Proficiency in Python or C++.
  • Experience with autonomous systems, server applications, or middleware.
  • Demonstrated experience designing integration workflows, communicating system dependencies, and triaging and reporting integration defects across subsystem boundaries.
  • Proficiency with simulation tools and hardware-in-the-loop testing environments.
  • Strong expertise with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering high-quality software solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and present to customers or technical leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building complex systems and a strong understanding of software architecture and design principles.
  • Experience with hardware or embedded systems.
  • Expert knowledge of Python.
  • Experience with ROS.
  • Experience with white-box testing.
  • Familiarity with networking, operating systems, and radio communications.
  • Experience designing automated testing tools for GUI applications.
  • Experience designing automated testing tools for server applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop expertise in the autonomy stack and integrate multi-agent systems across simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and flight platforms.
  • Understand the end-to-end system, from sensor inputs to autonomous behaviors.
  • Integrate autonomy algorithms, perception pipelines, middleware, and platform interfaces into the product, ensuring interoperability between components.
  • Lead autonomy software integration onto new robotic hardware platforms; configure sensor drivers, communication interfaces, and platform adapters.
  • Develop integration frameworks, deployment scripts, and configuration management tools for Software-in-the-Loop, Hardware-in-the-Loop, and flight environments.
  • Collaborate with integration engineers to ensure reliability across supported platforms, operating systems, and deployment configurations; identify and resolve cross-system integration issues.
  • Analyze logs, telemetry, and rosbag data to diagnose defects, isolate root causes, and work with developers to resolve issues.
  • Create analysis tooling to accelerate debugging.
  • Work with DevOps teams to improve integration pipelines, shorten build-to-deploy cycles, and support continuous integration of new features.
  • Define integration checkpoints and release-readiness criteria.
  • Help ensure integrated capabilities meet product requirements and interface specifications; assist in developing tooling to verify end-to-end compliance and traceability.
  • Evaluate the Hivemind SDK and customer use cases, assess usability for autonomy developers, and provide feedback to Engineering and Product teams.
