About The Position

This onsite engineering position is within Applied Technology Services (ATS), in the Grid & Electrification Innovation organization. The team operates laboratories for electric transmission and distribution hardware and software validation, engineering studies and analysis, real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, energy-efficiency codes and standards testing, advanced metering, customer electrification and decarbonization, and data fusion and predictive waveform analytics. The engineer performs complex power-system analysis, engineering studies, and HIL testing of emerging transmission and distribution grid technologies, applications, and devices. The role partners with teams in transmission and distribution planning, standards and asset strategy, system protection, and automation engineering. Work can range from technical consultation to support for new technologies from planning through production implementation. The team provides technology literature reviews and feasibility assessments, technology evaluations, power-system modeling and analysis, engineering studies, advanced metering evaluation, distributed energy resource integration assessment, and laboratory testing. The position is based at the San Ramon Technology Center, and the selected candidate must live within PG&E’s service territory. Travel is required depending on the assignment and is typically less than 5%.
