About The Position

FEDITC is seeking a Senior Energy Assurance Engineer to support the development and technical evaluation of cost-effective energy resilience solutions for Department of the Air Force (DAF) installations. You will lead the coordination with installation energy managers and project stakeholders to define resilience objectives and develop acquisition-ready documentation. You will also assess distributed energy technologies, including distributed energy resources (DER), battery storage, and microgrids, for their technical, economic, and operational feasibility. Applying engineering expertise, you will evaluate mission assurance impacts, interconnection strategies, and regulatory or contractual constraints. The position also supports federal grant applications, advises on utility engagement strategies, and contributes to energy resilience training for Air Force personnel. This position is based in Panama City, FL. To be considered, all candidates must be United States citizens. All prospective employees are required to pass a background check prior to being hired.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Preference given to candidates with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience with emphasis on technical evaluation of electrical systems, renewable energy integration, and installation-level resilience planning.
  • Familiarity with Air Force energy programs, policies, and acquisition processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evaluating distributed energy resources (DER), electrical distribution systems, and resilience-focused power strategies.
  • Experience supporting utility contracting, rate analysis, and performance validation of clean energy systems.
  • Proficiency with BLCC, EnergyPlus, Simergy, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret security clearance is required, with the ability to maintain clearance at the required level.
  • Candidates without an active clearance may be considered on a case-by-case basis; however, any offer will be strictly contingent upon the government’s approval of an interim Secret clearance.
  • Candidates cannot begin employment until interim clearance approval is granted.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Additional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical reviews of Installation Energy Plans (IEPs), Resilience Solution Reports (RSRs), and power purchase agreements (PPAs), assessing resilience effectiveness across all review stages (25%, 50%, 90%).
  • Identify gaps in proposed system designs, recommend improvements, and guide stakeholders on integrating conventional and renewable backup generation sources.
  • Analyze infrastructure needs for electrical segmentation, islanding, and interconnection with DAF systems.
  • Advise on acquisition strategy development, regulatory factors, and utility contracting procedures to support clean and resilient power procurement.
  • Coordinate with federal research labs and other stakeholders to assess feasibility of emerging energy technologies.
  • Assist in preparing resilience-focused energy project justifications, technical memoranda, and supporting documents.
  • Support federal grant applications to secure supplemental funding for resilience upgrades.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and delivery of energy resilience training for installation and enterprise-level audiences.
