This is a Senior Employment Litigation Counsel role focusing on Nationwide Wage and Hour Class / Collective Action Litigation. The firm is a nationally recognized, premier litigation boutique entirely dedicated to plaintiff-side employment advocacy, with a distinct concentration on complex wage-and-hour disputes. They exclusively champion the rights of the workforce, combating unpaid wages, overtime discrepancies, and employee misclassification on a nationwide scale. The practice is currently experiencing a profound growth inflection point, having recently expanded their briefing teams and relocated to a prestigious Class A commercial space. By eliminating bureaucratic layers of management, this firm provides incoming attorneys the rare opportunity to engage in highly substantive legal maneuvers directly alongside the founding partners.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited academic institution.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
  • Five to ten years of rigorous litigation experience, showcasing undeniable proficiency in in-court advocacy and extensive deposition handling.
  • Substantive background navigating class or collective action matters, whether from the plaintiff or defense perspective.
  • An absolute commitment to working fully on-site in the Houston, Texas metropolitan area.
  • Exceptional oral communication faculties and a commanding physical presence, as in-person articulation is heavily scrutinized.

Nice To Haves

  • A profound, demonstrated ideological commitment to advancing workers' rights and plaintiff-side advocacy.
  • Prior tenure at a specialized labor and employment boutique or extensive defense-side wage-and-hour experience with a strong desire to transition to plaintiff work.
  • First-chair or substantial second-chair trial experience, specifically involving the direct and cross-examination of key witnesses.
  • Mastery of nuanced state-specific wage-and-hour statutory frameworks beyond the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrating and commanding all phases of discovery, including taking and defending critical depositions.
  • Authoring compelling dispositive motions, complex pleadings, and comprehensive legal memoranda.
  • Serving as a lead courtroom advocate during hearings, mediations, and trial proceedings alongside named partners.
  • Directing sophisticated case management protocols across a voluminous federal docket.
  • Facilitating high-value settlement negotiations and providing invaluable mentorship to junior briefing attorneys.
