About The Position

The Senior Employment Counsel will serve as a trusted legal advisor to HR, business leaders, and executives, providing practical, strategic counsel on a broad range of employment matters. This role will help leaders navigate complex employee issues, litigation and claims, employment agreements, and evolving workplace laws while helping shape policies and practices that support the business.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5-7 years of employment law experience in top law firm and/or working as an in-house lawyer is required.
• Possess and demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, facilitation, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision, independently and/or as a member of a project team.
• Ability to multitask and to prioritize workload under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be detailed oriented – with strong attention to accuracy and problem solving. “Following up until resolved” skills a must.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Juris Doctorate degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
• Licensed member of a state bar in good standing.

• Experience with California laws and regulations a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice and counsel to human resources, business clients, and executives on a variety of employment matters, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour laws, family and medical leave laws, and restrictive covenants.
• Review and respond to employment-related claims, including charges, complaints, and attorney demand letters.
• Manage and support outside counsel in employment litigation matters before administrative agencies, courts, and in arbitration.
• Oversee the drafting of employment contracts and separation agreements and provide advice related to those transactions.
• Interpret and advise business leaders on the appropriate handling of employee matters.
• Assist with the development of internal processes and policies to address current and emerging employment law issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
