About The Position

Resideo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to develop sensor applications. The role designs, implements, and optimizes embedded firmware solutions for sensor applications, working with cross-functional teams to deliver sensor solutions for customers. The engineer architects firmware for real-time sensor data acquisition, analysis, and control; collaborates with hardware engineers on system requirements and sensor integration; and develops firmware drivers and libraries for common sensor types. The role also tests and validates firmware, optimizes performance for low-power and resource-constrained environments, follows advances in sensor and embedded-system technologies, and provides technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in embedded firmware development, focused on sensor applications and real-time systems.
  • Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems, with firmware development experience for microcontrollers and SoCs.
  • Proficiency with hardware interfaces including I2C, UART, GPIO, ADC, and SPI.
  • Experience with RTOS platforms such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, and TI RTOS.
  • Experience using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and device programmers.
  • Deep understanding of sensor principles, including analog and digital sensor interfaces, data formats, and signal processing techniques.
  • Experience with common sensor types and applications, including accelerometers, gyroscopes, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, proximity sensors, and environmental sensors.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot complex firmware issues and optimize performance for efficiency and reliability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded firmware for sensor applications, including sensor interfacing, data acquisition, signal processing, and RF protocol stack implementation.
  • Architect and implement firmware for real-time sensor data acquisition, analysis, and control across diverse application scenarios.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system requirements and specifications for sensor integration and ensure seamless interaction between firmware and sensor hardware.
  • Optimize firmware for low-power operation, resource-constrained environments, and real-time communication requirements.
  • Develop and maintain firmware drivers and libraries for common sensor types to support rapid development and deployment across platforms.
  • Test and validate firmware functionality, performance, and reliability, and address issues through iterative refinement and optimization.
  • Keep up with advancements in sensor technology, embedded systems, and firmware development methodologies, and integrate relevant technologies and practices into the development process.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
