About The Position

Under general supervision, perform as lead worker of Electronic Technicians and design, inspect, calibrate, modify, install, maintain, and repair various electronic equipment in areas providing and supporting patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Four years of experience analyzing, troubleshooting and repairing sophisticated electronic, medical, or communication equipment, or equivalent, is required.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm system, pneumatic tube system, life safety, nurse call system, paging system, electronics repair, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of equipment, such as, oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, logic probes, function of generators, and computerized bed tests is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical installation, National Electrical Code, National Fire Protection, and mathematics is required.
  • Ability to use equipment such as, test lamps, ammeters, volt-OHM meters, hydraulic conduit bender, and assorted hand/power tools.
  • Ability to read and to follow instructions accurately, timely and effectively.
  • Ability to read technical equipment operations manuals and schematics.
  • Effective verbal communication skills are required to work with management, skilled tradesmen, and various hospital staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate of Science in Electronics Technology is preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Electronics Technician, preferably at a senior level
  • Strong knowledge of electronic circuits, schematics, and diagnostic tools
  • Proficiency in using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other electronic testing equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and directs the daily work activities of Electronic Technicians, assigning work orders to be completed, checking work and offering guidance and technical expertise. Documents work orders completed each day.
  • Conduct new employee orientation and on the job training.
  • Reviews work orders for accuracy and completeness.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, routine service and repair on complex electronic equipment to ensure proper, safe operation and adherence to The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements and safety standards, in accordance with departmental operating procedures and manufacturers operating and repair specifications.
  • Maintains sophisticated computer equipment, such as, fire alarm system, sound equipment, and pneumatic conveying system.
  • Adjusts, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on computer controlled pneumatic conveying systems.
  • Repairs sound equipment, projectors, tape and video recorders, radios, televisions, electric and electronic beds.
  • Communicates with allied health, medical and administrative support staff, regularly, regarding equipment operation and problems to obtain information in order to resolve problems and minimize the amount of down time.
  • Communicates with and assists external contractors and engineers or consulting architects regarding proper wiring and connections, channeling inventory and compliance with local and NFPA codes due to new zoning or construction and renovation projects.
  • Participates in the evaluation and demonstration of new or rental equipment, and makes recommendations concerning equipment purchases as requested by the supervisor.
  • Maintains inventory and detailed records of service, installation, and modification of equipment and systems.
  • Observes the Electronic Maintenance practices and respective departmental policies and procedures to promote the overall efficiency of repair service and operations. Instructs and assures Electronics Technicians use proper care in using tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assists the supervisor with maintenance of departmental records, reports, such as, Maintenance Requests, various files, data bases, relevant statistics and technical/procedural manuals of electrical and electronic equipment operation in accordance with The Joint Commission, Federal, State and local regulations.
