About The Position

24-MAG LLC is seeking experienced electronics quality professionals for a fully remote consulting engagement supporting advanced AI training and technical evaluation initiatives. Contributors will review electronics manufacturing data and assess assembly quality, inspection defects, component authenticity, and semiconductor packaging, using practical expertise and applicable industry standards. No prior AI experience is required. The work may include PCB CAM and Gerber review, IPC assembly and wire-harness inspection, SMT/AOI defect analysis, counterfeit-component screening, and semiconductor inspection using C-SAM and X-ray results. Contributors will document findings, explain technical conclusions, recommend quality improvements and risk-mitigation actions, and collaborate with project leads. Project scope, platforms, inspection scenarios, and applicable standards may vary. This is an independent contractor engagement. The work is fully remote, and U.S.-based professionals are preferred. Work must not use confidential, proprietary, export-controlled, classified, customer-restricted, or otherwise protected third-party designs, data, records, or technical information. Compensation is $70–$120 per hour.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in electronics quality, CAM engineering, or failure analysis.
  • Strong background in PCB assembly, wire harnesses, or semiconductor packaging.
  • Extensive knowledge of IPC-A-610 inspection criteria and strong familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements.
  • Experience reviewing Gerber data and using PCB CAM software.
  • Strong understanding of PCB manufacturability and quality assurance.
  • Practical experience with SMT manufacturing processes and deep familiarity with AOI defect analysis and false-call remediation.
  • Direct experience with counterfeit-component screening under AS6081 and knowledge of counterfeit-risk indicators and mitigation strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with C-SAM and X-ray semiconductor inspection and familiarity with MIL-STD-883 procedures.
  • Strong analytical and root-cause evaluation capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills and ability to explain complex quality findings clearly and precisely.
  • Strong professional judgement and precise technical documentation.
  • Work must be completed without using confidential, proprietary, export-controlled, classified, customer-restricted, or otherwise protected third-party electronics designs, manufacturing data, inspection records, or technical information.

Nice To Haves

  • IPC CIS or CIT certification is highly valued.
  • U.S.-based professionals are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review PCB CAM and Gerber files for manufacturability, applicable quality requirements, design or fabrication issues, and documentation consistency; provide practical recommendations.
  • Evaluate PCB assemblies using IPC-A-610 criteria and wire-harness assemblies using IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Assess workmanship and assembly quality, identify unacceptable defects and nonconforming conditions, and document inspection findings with clear technical rationale.
  • Analyse SMT manufacturing defects and AOI results, distinguish genuine defects from false calls, investigate potential root causes, and recommend corrective or process-improvement actions.
  • Evaluate electronic components for counterfeit-risk indicators and apply AS6081 principles to screening scenarios.
  • Interpret C-SAM and X-ray semiconductor inspection results, review die and package conditions for potential defects, and apply MIL-STD-883 considerations where relevant.
  • Prepare concise technical reports, explain quality conclusions to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and recommend risk-mitigation actions.
  • Collaborate with project leads on workflow improvements and contribute expert judgement to technical evaluation datasets.
