About The Position

Raytheon's Effector Analog & Power (EAP) Team is looking for senior level engineers who have electronics knowledge to help design robust power, analog, or motor controls systems. The Effector Analog & Power Department is responsible for the development, from concept to integration, of Telemetry and Flight Termination products; power systems from all up round to the lowest level power regulation; servo electronics supporting all mechanical motion in our products and low noise mixed signal electronics that provides the analog to digital interface to our front-end sensors. Each of these products generally operates in lower power and voltage ranges less than 10kW and 1000V.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR an advanced STEM degree.
  • Design, analysis, test, and/or simulation experience with one or more of the following non-isolated converter topologies: buck, boost, buck-boost.
  • Experience using tools such as MATLAB, MathCAD, Mathematica, or other similar tools.
  • Experience with analog or digital electronics design, including at least one of the following: FETs/BJTs, op-amp, high/low/band pass filters, clock/data termination, and comparator circuits.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Robust design and analysis experience with analog or digital power converter design, to include topologies such as flyback, half-bridge, full-bridge, forward, and push-pull.
  • Conceptual familiarity and experience must include stability.
  • Conceptual familiarity (professional experience preferred) with transformer and inductor design considerations in power electronics circuits.
  • Experience with performing circuit card assembly-level power architecture trades, and/or with system-level power architecture trades, including power converter specification development experience.
  • Experience guiding Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation.
  • Experience communicating and documenting technical topics at the small team level.
  • Experience in any one of the following: Acting as a liaison between program and functional management in a cross-matrixed organization, Military specifications, Design considerations for voltages > 400V and/or power > 10kW. Three-phase power systems, power factor control, and inverter/rectifier development, Program management tools such as Earned Value, Proposal development, Circuit simulator SIMPLIS, system simulator SABER, and/or analysis tool Mathcad. Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, and/or Hyperlynx.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document power conversion (and related analog) circuitry. This circuitry will dominantly involve non-isolated and isolated switch mode power converters and linear converters. Main emphasis is on board-mounted power end use applications.
  • Help to see circuit card development through its design phases, from requirements definition through initial integration testing.
  • Lead small teams to success with schedule, budget, and technical execution.
  • Drive to meet schedule concerns. Define schedules for circuit level tasking.
  • Guide ECAD drafters through layout and routing activities, with moderate support from senior engineers. Assist in layer stack up definition.
