Senior Electronic Warfare Radio Frequency Engineer

SAIC•Point Mugu NAWC, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Senior Electronic Warfare (EW) / Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to support the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWC-WD) at Pt. Mugu. The role provides engineering expertise for Airborne Threat Simulation, Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA), and complex integration and system-development activities supporting fleet and test-range missions. The position is on-site in the Oxnard / Point Mugu, California area and supports the SAIC Navy Business Group. The engineer leads end-to-end EW and RF mission-system architecture development across airborne, range, and laboratory test environments; advises EW engineers and SAIC portfolio leadership; and provides engineering direction to multidisciplinary teams. The role translates customer requirements into engineering specifications and delivers scalable technical solutions using high-fidelity RF threat simulations and intelligence-derived emitter models. It also develops and validates RF architectures, digital receivers, signal-processing flows, and EW techniques, and aligns team development with modern systems engineering practices, including digital and model-based systems engineering. The position supports technical reviews, configuration and risk management, and readiness assessments, and produces engineering artifacts such as specifications, test plans, integration procedures, and analysis reports. The engineer also serves as a technical lead for capture activities, engaging senior customer stakeholders and preparing technical volumes, labor and material estimates, and customer-facing solution narratives. Travel is expected 25% of the time. An active Secret clearance is required, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 18 or more years of experience in EW/RF systems engineering, preferably in airborne EW environments.
  • Deep understanding of RF subsystem design, modeling, simulation, and threat-environment replication.
  • Experience performing hardware/software integration and mission-system validation.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Prior support to NAWC-WD or other Naval Aviation programs.
  • Experience with EWIRDB, RF simulation tools (HFSS, CST, AWR/MWO, ADS), A2PATS/NEWEG, or emitter-modeling workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary integration efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of end-to-end EW and RF mission-system architectures spanning airborne, range, and laboratory test environments for AEA threat simulation and RF sensor programs.
  • Collaborate with NAWC-WD engineers and SAIC technologists to support system readiness and mission execution.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor to EW engineers and SAIC portfolio leadership, providing engineering direction to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Translate customer requirements into engineering specifications through functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition while balancing technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Develop scalable technical solutions using high-fidelity RF threat simulations and intelligence-derived emitter models.
  • Develop and validate RF architectures, digital receivers, signal-processing flows, and EW technique implementations.
  • Align EW/RF team development with digital and model-based systems engineering practices.
  • Use industry SETR and IEEE guidelines to produce compliant specifications, test plans, integration procedures, and analysis reports.
  • Support configuration and risk management by representing the EW engineering team in technical reviews, configuration steering boards, and readiness assessments.
  • Lead technical capture activities, build relationships with senior customer stakeholders, and produce technical volumes, labor and material estimates, and customer-facing solution narratives.
  • Apply and/or develop advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories, and concepts.
