About The Position

As part of MACOM’s product development team, the Senior Electronic IC Design Engineer designs advanced circuits for serial communications. The role requires a solid understanding of circuit-design fundamentals, familiarity with circuit simulators, and an understanding of the product flow from definition through qualification. The successful candidate will support products throughout the development and release cycle and characterize and debug prototypes in the lab.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar studies.
  • At least 5 years of analog design experience with high-frequency or high-speed blocks in CMOS and/or BiCMOS technologies.
  • Demonstrated successful silicon experience with blocks or products such as Gbps equalizers, CDRs, PLLs, laser drivers, transimpedance amplifiers, ADCs, or DACs.
  • Solid understanding of analog and high-frequency design fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with EDA design tools.
  • Experience with lab equipment, including real-time and sampling oscilloscopes, signal and pattern generators, spectrum analyzers, and VNAs.
  • Ability to characterize products hands-on in the lab.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with different technical and management levels.
  • Willingness to travel when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electromagnetic simulators such as EMX or HFSS and system-level simulators such as ADS or Matlab.
  • System knowledge of circuits and functions related to wired or optical link transmission and reception, such as equalizers, CDR/PLL, and TIA.

Responsibilities

  • Design circuits for serial communications.
  • Support products through the entire product development and release cycle.
  • Characterize products hands-on in the lab.
  • Evaluate and debug prototypes.
  • Communicate technical information to technical and management audiences.
  • Travel when required.

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Employer-sponsored 401(k) plan.
