About The Position

As part of MACOM’s product development team, the Electronic Design Engineer IC designs state-of-the-art circuits for serial communications. The role requires a solid understanding of circuit design fundamentals, familiarity with circuit simulators, and understanding of the product development flow from definition through qualification. The successful candidate will support products through the entire development and release cycle, including hands-on laboratory characterization and prototype evaluation and debug. Travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a similar field.
  • At least 12 years of analog design experience with high-frequency/high-speed blocks in CMOS and/or BiCMOS technologies.
  • Demonstrated silicon success in blocks or products such as Gbps equalizers, CDRs, PLLs, laser drivers, transimpedance amplifiers, ADCs, and DACs.
  • Solid understanding of analog and high-frequency design fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with EDA design tools.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment, including real-time and sampling oscilloscopes, signal and pattern generators, spectrum analyzers, and VNAs, as well as prototype evaluation and debug.
  • Ability to characterize products hands-on in the laboratory.
  • Ability to support a product through the entire product development and release cycle.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with technical and management audiences at various levels.
  • Willingness to travel when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electromagnetic tools such as EMX or HFSS and system-level simulators such as ADS or Matlab is highly regarded.
  • System knowledge of circuits and functions related to transmission and reception over wired or optical links, such as equalizers, CDR/PLL, and TIA.

Responsibilities

  • Design circuits for serial communications.
  • Support products throughout the product development and release cycle, from definition through qualification.
  • Characterize products hands-on in the laboratory.
  • Evaluate and debug prototypes.
  • Travel when required.
