About The Position

Johnson Controls is searching for a Senior Electronics Component Specialist to be located at the R&D facility in Brossard, QC, close by highways 30, 10 and REM. In this role you will be responsible for supporting electronics designers by evaluating, qualifying and approving components to be used on next generation of fire alarm products as well as assessing impact on existing product lines. Johnson Controls having design centers and PCA/products manufacturing plants across the globe including Canada, USA, UK, India, Czechia and Mexico. You will be collaborating with different teams globally. Other electronics tasks such as engineering support and lab testing support would also be part of the position tasks. Johnson Controls fire alarm systems include embedded system designs, small signal and instrumentation circuitry, switch mode power supplies, front panel user interfaces, audio amplifiers, peer-to-peer networking copper and fiber optics, high intensity strobes, linear power supplies, sensors and detectors. Our Fire Detection products are embedded in buildings you visit every day! Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in electronics design related to analog, power, audio, or embedded products or systems.
  • Excellent discrete electronic component-level knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with electronic CAD (schematic capture, circuit simulation, or related).
  • Ability to work well with others in a Team environment that spans multiple countries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience transitioning products to manufacturing.
  • Maitrise de l’anglais

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in regulated industries a plus – e.g. UL, EN54 performance based standards
  • Altium Designer CAD experience.
  • Experience with Silicon Expert
  • French language

Responsibilities

  • Find replacements for component obsolescence, coordinating and validating implications in existing products.
  • Find multiple sources for new specified components.
  • Communicate with manufacturers for specifications and life expectancy of components.
  • Manage components in our PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) platform.
  • Write components specific documentation.
  • Validate components released to our CAD library and improve library efficiency.
  • Perform component setup and library maintenance (Altium Designer)
  • Work in a team environment to generate creative solutions to product needs.
