Senior Electron Optics Engineer

ASML•San Jose, CA

About The Position

As a Senior Mechanical/Electron Optics Design Engineer for an electron beam system, you will design, develop, test, analyze, troubleshoot, and implement electron optics modules. You will create and evaluate designs to meet application requirements, developing e-beam inspection tool modules and subsystems from concept through final release for high-volume manufacturing. The role includes preparing system- and module-level design documentation in accordance with ASML’s design process, performing simulations and calculations, and leading reviews, risk assessments, experiments, and verification and validation activities. You will work with vendors and consultants to develop and fabricate components and subassemblies, troubleshoot fabrication and integration issues, and support testing and design verification. You will also prepare technical processing documents and support the manufacturing team through the transition to mass production. The role includes studying and developing new technologies to enable future electron optics module concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Design electron optics modules and subsystems for e-beam inspection tools, from concept design through final release for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Create system- and module-level design documents that specify design principles, details, and interfaces according to the ASML design process.
  • Perform simulations and calculations for electron optics module design, including thermal, vacuum, high-voltage, dynamics, and mechanical finite-element analysis.
  • Lead design reviews, error-budget development, risk assessment and mitigation, experiments, and verification and validation processes.
  • Present and document concepts, designs, and test results effectively.
  • Work with vendors and consultants to develop, analyze, and fabricate components and subassemblies.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems during parts and module fabrication.
  • Participate in electron-optics system and subsystem integration and testing; troubleshoot and verify designs to ensure high-quality implementation.
  • Transfer designs to manufacturing by providing technical processing documents and supporting the technical transition to mass production.
  • Study and develop new technologies and concepts for future electron optics modules.
