About The Position

Fermilab is seeking a Senior Electrical PCB Design Drafter in its Power Electronics Systems Department. The role applies extensive knowledge of mechanical and electrical design and drafting, using Computer-Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) and related software to ensure compliance with and consistency to professional standards. The position is onsite at Fermilab’s Batavia office; the work arrangement may change based on business needs and is not guaranteed to remain unchanged. The drafter designs multilayer and split-plane printed circuit boards (PCBs) using Altium Designer, translates existing OrCAD designs into Altium, and prepares schematics, layouts, 3D models, calculations, and related documents. The role also supports parts and bill-of-materials design, procurement, and inventory, and provides information for procurement, fabrication, assembly, installation, and other aspects of completed designs. Responsibilities may include field investigations, producing equipment and system drawings such as as-built floor plans and electrical or process diagrams, applying GD&T principles, researching and developing design solutions, selecting components and materials, and mentoring or delegating work to drafters and students as circumstances require. The position is expected to follow applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and practices. The expected hiring range is $34.24–$41.76. The pay offered to a selected candidate depends on factors including the scope and responsibilities of the position, qualifications, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs. The position is not eligible for relocation assistance or sponsorship assistance. An offer is contingent on successful completion of a background check and drug screening. New employees must obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential and pass a federal background investigation. Fermilab also notes restrictions and disclosure requirements concerning certain Foreign Government Sponsored or Affiliated Activities.
