About The Position

Salas O’Brien is seeking an Electrical Design Drafter to support the Scorpius project. The role converts existing cable schedules, specifications, and connection data into detailed electrical cable drawings, including updates to documentation for safety-rated cabling. The drafter will develop cable drawings in AutoCAD Electrical, document routing and connection details, update existing design drawings, and coordinate reviews and revisions with the engineering team. Salas O’Brien is an employee-owned engineering and professional services firm founded in 1975. It provides integrated engineering and consulting services across industries including data centers, healthcare, science and technology, high-rise buildings, clean energy, education, infrastructure, and other building types. The role is nonexempt and offers an expected hourly pay range of $35–$50 USD, with actual compensation based on factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.

Requirements

Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and detailed cable or wiring drawings.
Ability to translate cable schedules and connection data into individual drawings.
Familiarity with safety-rated cable requirements; safety specialization is not required.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred; equivalent certification and a relevant drawing portfolio are also considered.

Responsibilities

Develop individual cable drawings in AutoCAD Electrical from established cable schedules and specifications.
Document cable routing, lengths, connections, and other defined details.
