About The Position

We are expanding our estimating group and seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to support our residential and light-commercial projects. Requirements

  • Minimum 5–7 years of electrical estimating experience in residential construction, production homebuilding, or similar markets
  • Proven ability to perform accurate material takeoffs and produce comprehensive bid packages
  • Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), local jurisdictions, and typical residential electrical systems
  • Experience with estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Accubid, ConEst) and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail, numerical aptitude, and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, single-line diagrams, and construction documents
  • Capable of managing multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of relevant estimating experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Proficiency with Excel for building spreadsheets, formulas, and cost models

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or higher in construction management, electrical technology, or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with residential automation, home entertainment, and low-voltage systems is a plus
  • Experience working with production home builders and understanding builder processes and schedules
  • Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior staff

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed, accurate estimates for residential and light-commercial electrical projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Perform takeoffs from plans, blueprints, and specifications using digital takeoff tools and manual methods
  • Analyze drawings, job specifications, and site conditions to identify scope, constructability issues, and change order potential
  • Develop cost models, unit pricing, and quantity assumptions to support competitive and profitable bids
  • Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, procurement, and sales to validate estimates and clarify scope
  • Track historical costs, update pricing databases, and maintain accurate estimating templates and bid files
  • Prepare proposal documentation, bid forms, and supporting exhibits for submission
  • Review subcontractor and supplier quotes; solicit bids and evaluate proposals when required
  • Support pre-bid meetings, site visits, and take client or general contractor questions during the bid period
  • Identify and communicate risk items and recommended contingencies
  • Assist with post-bid reconciliation and transition of awarded projects to project management
  • Mentor junior estimators and contribute to team process improvements
  • Additional responsibilities assigned by the manager
