MCW is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Vancouver office. In this role, you will lead the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building systems from concept through construction, providing technical leadership, mentoring junior staff, and building strong client relationships. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative consulting environment. This is a full-time permanent position based in Vancouver, BC. We welcome applications from qualified candidates across Canada. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Vancouver, BC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical consulting engineering with a focus on building and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience designing HV substations (indoor and outdoor), generator systems, system grounding, underground utility (U/G) distribution systems, duct banks, and power cabling.
  • Experience with utility coordination, power system protection and control, fire alarm, and life safety systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, CSA standards, and applicable industry design standards.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical building systems and engineering best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams while managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to meet schedules and budgets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients, contractors, and project teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical engineering software.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff and provide technical leadership.
  • Strong client service orientation with the ability to build and maintain lasting professional relationships.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and committed to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, or mixed-use projects is considered an asset.
  • LEED AP, WELL AP, or experience with sustainable building design is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design of building systems including medium voltage power distribution, low voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, communications, security, and low-voltage systems.
  • Prepare engineering calculations including power loads and service sizing, voltage drop, short circuit ratings, duct bank design and cabling and lighting calculations eg.
  • Develop design concepts, engineering reports, specifications, and construction drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary designs with mechanical, structural, architectural, and civil teams.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and calculations prepared by junior engineers and designers to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform site investigations, existing building assessments, and condition reports.
  • Participate in client meetings, design presentations, and technical discussions throughout project development.
  • Coordinate with utility providers, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), contractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Provide construction administration services including shop drawing reviews, responses to RFIs, site reviews, commissioning support, and field inspections.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and technical resources to ensure successful project execution.
  • Mentor junior engineers, designers, and EITs while promoting technical excellence and professional development.
  • Ensure designs comply with the Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code and applicable industry standards.
  • Support business development initiatives, proposal preparation, and client relationship management.
