Senior Electrical Engineer

LVTAmerican Fork, UT
Onsite

About The Position

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be a critical technical anchor within LVT’s hardware team, operating with high autonomy to shape technical direction and raise the engineering bar across the organization. In this role, you won't just design boards; you will tackle our most complex electrical challenges, from high-speed routing and vision processor integration to ultra-low power optimization for our rugged, distributed hardware. You will lead discrete technical efforts end-to-end, steering critical architecture decisions and driving technical execution with our Joint Development Manufacturers (JDMs) to ensure seamless transitions from Altium to scaled production. This role is based on-site at our American Fork, Utah facility, supporting operations across both our American Fork and Spanish Fork locations. Occasional travel may be required for vendor engagements, JDM alignment, and field initiatives.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated competency in electrical engineering with a proven track record of significantly contributing to multiple hardware designs.
  • Hands-on experience is required in Altium/ECAD design, embedded systems, and at least one of: power electronics, vision processor integration, or hardware system integration
  • Proven experience bringing hardware through the full product lifecycle, from initial schematic capture to successful commercial product launches.
  • Able to independently drive assigned work to completion, managing your own time and communicating proactively when blocked.
  • Digs into problems to understand root causes (such as complex power delivery issues or hardware/firmware bottlenecks) rather than just symptoms, bringing rigor to design and debugging.
  • Collaborates well across disciplines and with external JDM partners, shares knowledge openly, and takes feedback constructively.
  • Able to document and explain your work clearly (e.g., schematics, DFM documentation, and technical trade-offs) to teammates and adjacent teams.
  • Takes pride in building things that last—attentive to edge cases, power optimization, test coverage, and long-term maintainability.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, testing, and delivery of electrical systems and components within your assigned scope.
  • Utilize Altium (or equivalent ECAD) to design complex PCBs from scratch, producing work that meets LVT’s high quality and reliability standards.
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions, contributing well-reasoned technical input.
  • Implement designs aligned with team direction, specifically addressing challenges related to high-speed routing (e.g., LPDDR, MIPI interfaces) and vision processors/SoCs (such as Ambarella).
  • Design and optimize embedded devices for ultra-low power consumption, strategically balancing hardware and firmware trade-offs to maximize efficiency.
  • Assist in engagements with external vendors, suppliers, and Joint Development Manufacturers (JDMs).
  • Successfully manage the split of design ownership, coordinate on specifications, evaluate components, and ensure strict quality control during co-development.
  • Work closely with firmware, mechanical, and product teams on day-to-day execution, proactively communicating dependencies and progress to drive successful product launches.
  • Identify technical risks early.
  • Apply rigorous Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles when transitioning designs from Altium to production to minimize board spins and assembly errors.
  • Follow established engineering standards and flag opportunities for improvement as you encounter them.
  • Actively develop your technical skills and domain knowledge, seeking feedback and taking on stretch assignments to broaden your impact across multiple product designs.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage
  • Retirement benefits (401k match up to 4%)
  • Flexible PTO
