$180,000 - $220,000Onsite

About The Position

Picogrid is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design, build, and deploy mission-critical hardware systems that support U.S. defense operations. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of embedded systems, mechanical integration, and high-reliability design, where you will own key electrical components that power connected autonomous systems in the field. You will own the full design lifecycle for various hardware products: from rapid prototyping and validation through production and direct field deployment. Your work is not bench-bound; you will collaborate closely with software, mechanical, and deployment teams to ensure systems operate reliably in harsh environments from deserts to flightlines to active field operations. Expect fast iteration and minimal layers between your engineering and the end user, driving real-world mission impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience designing and releasing custom PCBAs into production.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Deep understanding of high-speed digital design, signal integrity, power electronics, and common electronic components.
  • Proven experience in schematic capture and PCB design for high-reliability applications (aerospace, defense, or similar industries preferred).
  • Proficiency in PCB design software (KiCAD or Altium preferred), circuit simulation (LTSpice preferred), and testing tools (oscilloscopes, DMM, bench power supplies, data loggers).
  • Expertise in power electronics design, PCIE, USB-C 3.2, Ethernet, and POE.
  • Growth mindset, results-oriented focus, and proficiency in leveraging modern tools to maximize productivity.
  • Ability to interpret and apply design specifications, datasheets, and technical drawings.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee, or Asylee, or eligible to obtain necessary U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Embedded Engineering, STM32, FreeRTOS, C/C++, Rust.
  • Familiarity with git and CAD (OnShape preferred).
  • Experience with defense, aerospace, or other high-reliability hardware, and designing systems for environmental robustness (temperature, vibration, ingress protection).
  • Comfort supporting end-to-end system deployment, including in field settings.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full design lifecycle for various hardware products: from rapid prototyping and validation through production and direct field deployment.
  • Collaborate closely with software, mechanical, and deployment teams to ensure systems operate reliably in harsh environments from deserts to flightlines to active field operations.
  • Drive real-world mission impact through fast iteration and minimal layers between engineering and the end user.
