About The Position

Dewberry is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Peoria, IL. This role is responsible for providing technical guidance and training/mentoring of design resources in all areas of electrical engineering. The engineer will assist Project/Client Managers by providing technical guidance to help meet client desires and budget, and will work with a team of engineers on a variety of private, public, and federal projects. Collaboration with architectural, mechanical, structural, and other disciplines is expected to provide full-range services to local and regional clients. The position involves providing technical guidance associated with electrical requirements to accomplish commitments and reports to the Electrical Discipline Manager. Dewberry’s Peoria, IL office has over 40 design professionals, including a large MEPS Group focused on design services for nationwide clients in specialized facility types. Their experience includes high performance buildings, net zero energy design, renewable energy technologies, microgrid and energy storage system design, energy and climate resilience, and services related to decarbonization/electrification of the built environment. The MEPS group has subject matter experts in leadership roles in international professional organizations like ASHRAE. Repeat clients include universities, state, local, and federal government agencies, and large global industrial manufacturers. The MEPS service line is ranked #30 Nationally among MEP Giants. Due to backlog growth and accelerating demand for energy market transformation expertise, they are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Peoria, IL office.

Requirements

  • Accomplished electrical engineer/PE
  • 8+ years of progressive technical experience in the design of power distribution, lighting, life safety, and telecommunications systems.
  • Experience should include technical oversight of multiple projects with proven success providing technical oversight on projects that meet contract specifications and technical standards to the client on time and within budget.
  • Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Well organized, takes good notes.

Responsibilities

  • Technical guidance and quality oversight, including code review, of all project work involving electrical engineering.
  • Technical training and development of staff.
  • Establishing and improving standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications for electrical discipline area.
  • Engineer of Record.
  • Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions - technical and cost estimates.
  • Coordination with all of the disciplines involved, including outside consultants.
  • Technical interface with code officials and contractors.
