About The Position

Parsons is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Dahlgren, VA. In this role, you will contribute to naval surface weapons development, addressing new and emerging threats with novel approaches. You will work on bringing new technology to the Warfighter, continuously improving system performance, and ensuring the US Navy maintains the solutions required for ship self-defense and force projection. The work is on-site at NSWC Dahlgren in King George, VA, supporting the Gun Weapon System (GWS) program. GWS is a USN Program of Record that provides engineering solutions for system development, improvement, and modernization for naval surface guns. Our engineers bring critical skills to support the development, test, integration, and deployment of in-service systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; or STEM related 4-year degree or higher
  • 8+ years of electrical engineering experience with increasing technical responsibility.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • U.S. citizenship

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with military, aerospace, defense, transportation, industrial, telecommunications, or other mission-critical systems.
  • Prior USN (military or civilian) experience desired
  • Experience with AEGIS combat system interfaces, or similar SoS weapons systems desired
  • Experience working with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain system power budgets and power allocation strategies.
  • Ensure adequate power availability and margin throughout all operational modes.
  • Define power distribution architectures and electrical interfaces.
  • Support requirements development, design, integration, test, certification, and fielding activities.
  • Analyze system power consumption and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Resolve power-related issues discovered during development, integration, test, and operational use.
  • Coordinate with subsystem owners to ensure compliance with system power allocations and requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership for power distribution design decisions and trade studies.
  • Assess power system impacts resulting from design changes, obsolescence issues, and field modifications.
