Senior Electrical Engineer
About The Position
This role involves the design and detailing of industrial control systems, including interpreting mechanical schematics, generating design drawings, and selecting equipment. The engineer will also design and detail industrial control software, including PLC/controller code and graphic user interface code. The position requires following designs through fabrication, testing, and on-site startup/debugging. Responsibilities include managing the electrical portion of projects, supervising subcontracts, and maintaining schedules and documentation. The engineer will interface with customers to establish design goals, specify electrical components, and develop subcontract bid packages. A key aspect is performing complete system design, analysis, and engineering calculations, while also attending design reviews and supporting on-site installation teams. Field verification and customer meetings are also part of the role, along with troubleshooting electrical installation issues (hardware and software). Travel is approximately 30%.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- 5-10 years of position-related experience
- Experience with electrical engineering design for industrial controls and panels
- Experience with industrial networking: Ethernet IP, ProfiBus, ProfiNet, Devicenet, etc.
- Able to interpret NEC and local codes
- Familiar with PLC programming, graphic user interface programming, computer operating systems, and networking
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Familiar with instrumentation and process control
- Design engineering calculation ability
- Able to read and interpret Electrical Schematics
- Ability to learn and utilize Microsoft Visio
- Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
- Good time management skills
- Good organizational skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Good technical writing skills
- Able to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
- Able to work well independently and in a team environment
