About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide Infrastructure Engineering Support for the T5 Program, a contract with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role involves supporting the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan, NextGen Program, national security programs, and aviation safety through various technical services. The engineer will be based at the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City, NJ, and will work on projects across the nation. The T5 contract is a significant undertaking, with an average staff of 500 supporting it. The Senior Electrical Engineer will play a key role in designing low voltage power distribution systems, coordinating with other disciplines, and ensuring compliance with codes and regulations. This position is part of the Federal Solutions team, which delivers resources to US government customers for defense, security, intelligence, infrastructure, and environmental missions.

Requirements

BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college. (Third party evaluation of ABET equivalency may be accepted.)
8+ years of electrical design related experience in low voltage power distribution systems, data center design, power quality analysis, lighting systems, grounding, lightning protection and Uninterruptible Power Sources (UPS).
Potential to perform in a lead capacity.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required.
Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.
Must be able to pass government background check.
Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Ability to work well under pressure and within budgeted hours and schedule.
Green card or US citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in engineering consulting with federal agencies is preferred.
Working knowledge of FAA standards and specifications is preferred.
Familiar with construction practices and safe work procedures.
Ability to solve problems with persons inside and outside an organization to find mutually beneficial solutions.
Previous experience with lightning and grounding protection.
Proficiency in Bluebeam.
Proficiency in SKM and the ability to perform short circuit, coordination and arc flash analyses.

Responsibilities

May function as discipline Project Engineer on medium to large projects, assuming responsibility for the work of the group.
May plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring a large-scale expenditure of manpower and financial investment.
Leads other Engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
Ensures compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations.
Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
May assist with other administrative and technical duties.
Design low voltage power distribution systems.
Prepare single line diagrams and wiring diagrams under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Coordinate designs with other disciplines (i.e., civil, architectural, mechanical, structural, etc.).
Adhere to Parsons policy for accurate project documentation for project files.
Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes, utilizing CAE/CAD as applicable.
Prepare standard engineering computations, material quality takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
Prepare detailed requisitions for low voltage equipment and materials.
Size conduit, conductors and overcurrent protection devices per the National Electric Code (NEC).
Reviews small and portions of larger supplier drawing submittavits and assists in performing technical bid analyses.
Prepare and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Perform field surveys and collect required data as per project needs.
