About The Position

Arcadis is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer, with an interest in designing electrical systems and managing tasks and junior staff, to join our Resilience Water Team in Atlanta, Georgia. Using your technical capabilities and collaborating with our experienced team of professionals, you will provide technical and design consulting services with a focus on electrical power distribution, lighting, communications, security, fire detection and monitoring and control system designs to support projects for the Water and Environmental Business Lines. You will also manage tasks, manage team work, and oversee the work of junior staff, while reporting to a Principal Engineer. The ideal candidate must be performance-driven, possess a strong educational background and must be able to work productively, both independently and as a contributing member of a collaborative team.

Requirements

  • 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • PE License
  • Experience using AutoCAD MEP (2D and 3D) or Revit, SKM Power Tools, short circuit calculations, overcurrent coordination, and/or arc flash analysis, and photometric study (Visual 3D or Dialux).
  • Solid working knowledge of the National Electrical Code requirements, as well as NFPA 70E, NFPA 820.
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams effectively to complete projects on time and on budget.
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments and activities concurrently to meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Support projects and clients in the planning, design and construction of water/wastewater facilities and other industrial facilities.
  • Develop project/task scopes, schedules, and budget for new projects.
  • Develop project management skills including support in managing budgets, workload, and delivery schedules for each assignment.
  • Responsible for electrical design and coordination of various projects with an emphasis on power distribution, lighting, communications, security, fire alarm systems, and monitoring and control systems for water, wastewater, and industrial projects.
  • Establish design criteria, perform design calculations, develop one-line diagrams, control schematics, plans, and specifications.
  • Provide condition assessments, equipment evaluations, and life cycle planning recommendations for facilities.
  • Provide engineering services during construction phases, encompassing activities such as reviewing equipment submittals, shop drawings, and responding to contractor RFIs (request for information), as well as participation in factory tests, commissioning, and startup.
  • Perform field inspections and project oversight during construction, entailing the identification of deviations from design, conducting general QA/QC of completed work, and monitoring safety compliance.
  • Perform system analysis utilizing tools like ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or other power systems analysis software.
  • Mentor junior/staff electrical engineers.
